Accounting numbers do more than record information; they shape how people think, act, and relate within organizations and broader society.
Likewise, what to measure, how to report, and what constitutes "value" emerge from specific social contexts and carry moral and political weight.
My research relies on qualitative, case-based methods to understand how these practices operate in real settings. To date, I have conducted hundreds of interviews with accounting and finance professionals and completed multiple studies using ethnographic inspiration.

My current research examines investor relations practices and their role in shaping and communicating a firm's corporate identity to the capital market.

Listen to me discuss investor relations on the Numbers Talk podcast.

My second project concerns the practices of active fund managers and how they use information to make investment decisions and participate in corporate governance. My particular interest is on contrarian decision-making and how fund managers decide to take a "bet" against the current trends in the market.
